This Friday I play in Montserrat (Barcelona) the same repertoire I will perform next week in Westminster Cathedral. It includes some Bach’s works you can listen in my CD Bach, but also works by César Franck, Louis Vierne, Maurice Duruflé and Wagner transcriptions.
This concert is part of the Grand Organ Festival. According to the brochure’s description, The Grand Organ of Westminster Cathedral is considered by many to be the greatest achievement of Henry Willis III, one of England’s finest organ builders. Since its inauguration in 1922 by Marcel Dupré (who was an influential figure in its design), the instrument has been heard in concerts played by many celebrated organists from around the world: Louis Vierne, Fernando Germani, Jeanne Demessieux, Pierre Cochereau, Jean Langlais, George Thalben-Ball, Ralph Downes, Jean Guillou and Dame Gillian Weir have all performed here to great acclaim.
